Detroit Cass Tech defensive back Donovan Johnson announced on Twitter tonight that he’s committed to play college football at Penn State.

The four-star recruit, the No. 3 player in the state and the 17th best cornerback in the nation according to Rivals.com, picked the Nittany Lions over the likes of Virginia Tech and West Virginia, the reported other finalists
The 5-foot-10, 176-pound Johnson was named the captain of the All-Division 1 team by the Free Press and was a main cog on Cass Tech’s undefeated state championship team this season.
The Technicians’ closest call this season was a 43-42 win over Saline in the Division 1 regional final in which Johnson scored four touchdowns as a running back.
He will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio in January.
Penn State is riding a nine-game winning streak and Big Ten championship into the Rose Bowl Game Jan. 1 against USC.
