Michigan football continued its sweep of the state today when Flint Southwestern’s Deron Irving-Bey committed to the Wolverines.
The 6-foot-5, 282-pound defensive end is the No. 5-ranked player in Michigan in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Michigan already had Nos. 1-4 (Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ambry Thomas, Josh Ross and Jaylen Kelly-Powell), No. 6 (Corey Malone-Hatcher) and No. 9 (Ja’Raymond Hall.)
Irving-Bey took official visits to Tennessee on Oct. 15, Maryland on Dec. 3 and U-M on Dec. 10.

Ranked as the No. 9 strongside defensive end in the 247Composite rankings, he was U-M’s second commit of the day, following Florida IMG Academy center Cesar Ruiz.
U-M had ascended to the nation’s No. 4-ranked class when Ruiz, the No. 58 overall prospect, announced his pledge. The Wolverines have five top-100 prospects, but are still well behind No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Georgia.
Irving-Bey is the 24th commitment in U-M’s class.
Note: Michigan receiver Amara Darboh and defensive tackle Ryan Glasgow will play in the Senior Bowl, an NFL draft showcase, next month.
