Michigan eased into the final recruiting stretch for the 2017 class over the weekend, only hosting a single prospect for an official visit to open the season in Cheshire (Conn.) four-star wide receiver Tarik Black.

Black, who holds scholarship offers from Stanford, Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn and a host of others, was in Ann Arbor for the second time in a month for the game against Hawaii. He also visited campus for the recent BBQ at the Big House.

“Every single thing was first class from the minute we got there to the minute we left,” Cheshire Academy coach David Dykeman told 247Sports. He and Black’s family took the visit together. “He got some great time to spend around the staff and the recruiting staff. It was very well done that’s for sure.”

The Wolverines have recently expanded their wide receiver board for the 2017 class. Their original plan was to take two at the position after loading up in 2016. However, with the departure of Ahmir Mitchell and Camden (NJ) three-star Brad Hawkins unable to qualify, the staff appears to be in line to take as many as four, with Black being one of the top targets.

“I think he obviously fits their system,” Dykeman said. “They want a big wide receiver in this class. They were highly impressed with Tarik. Michigan has a great educational system and play phenomenal football and that’s Tarik.”

Black’s 247Sports Crystal Ball is heavily favoring the Wolverines as they hold 88% of the predictions in their favor. He is the No. 1 ranked player in Connecticut for the 2017 class, and has a scheduled official visit to Auburn next. Stanford and Alabama are among the other programs he’s believed to be seriously considering.
